How long have you been in business?

Dundas Doors and Windows is a family owned and operated business that was established in 1987. Since then we have grown and evolved into one of the preeminent home improvement companies in the region.

What area do you primarily service?

Dundas Doors and Windows is pleased to offer and install our products within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Are your products available, cash and carry?

Yes. At Dundas Doors and Windows, every product that we offer is available cash and carry.

Do you provide products for new construction?

Yes. Just let us know what you require and our doors and windows can be manufactured specifically for your new construction needs.

Is it possible to obtain an accurate estimate online, over the phone or in the showroom?

Absolutely. Many customers are surprised by this response but, at Dundas Doors and Windows, we do not have to visit your home to provide you with an accurate estimate for installed work. All we require are some rough measurements of the area(s) in question which can easily be performed by a homeowner or non-professional.

Exterior Doors : Measure the width and height of the exterior brick opening. It’s not necessary to measure the existing door itself, although these measurements are still useful.

Windows : You don’t have to measure the outside of your windows, instead concentrate on the interior. If your existing windows have casing, measure from one end of the casing to the other end of the casing for both the width and height. If your windows do not have a wood casing surround, try and measure the square opening.

Garage Doors : Measure the width and height of the existing garage door itself.
Interior Doors : Measure the width and height of the existing opening that you wish the new doors to be installed. Does the opening have a wood frame? or does it require one?

Please note, unless you are a cash and carry customer, the measurements that we receive from you are used for calculating estimates only. Once an order is pending or confirmed a representative from Dundas Doors and Windows will visit your home to take detailed measurements.

What is a reasonable lead time from date of order to date of installation?

At Dundas Doors and Windows, a reasonable lead time to expect between the day an order is placed until the first day of installation, is 4 – 6 weeks.

Do you use your own installers?

Yes. Our reputation has been built on our superior installations, due namely to the experience and expertise of our very own in-house professionals, who have worked exclusively for us for years.

Do I have to be home during the installation?

No. It is your choice whether or not you wish to be home during the installation. Working customers can make arrangements for friends, family or neighbours to supervise the installation, or, if you won’t be home, feel free to leave us a key on or prior to the installation date. Under these circumstances, arrangements concerning keys and final payment are made when an installation date is confirmed.

Do you install in the Winter?

Yes. We install throughout all 12 months of the year. While some customers are hesitant to have work done on their home in the Winter, it is important to know that your door or window openings are exposed to the elements for a short period of time. In fact, the majority of time spent on product installation occurs after it has been set into the opening. We also use a high quality caulking that is kept at room temperature before it is applied during the installation.

What type of window installation do you perform?

At Dundas Doors and Windows, we perform two different types of window installations :

Replacement : involves the replacement of your old window with a new window, without disturbing the existing wood frame. The exposed wood frame on the exterior of your home is capped in colour matching aluminum for a cleaner appearance and…it’s maintenance free. This option serves as a less expensive alternative and, in many cases, a more practical approach for homes that don’t require new wood frames.

Brick to Brick : customers with older homes and homes that have sustained wood damage should consider this type of installation because it involves a full window and frame tear out, back to the brick opening. After the old or damaged wood is removed we install the new window and construct a brand new wood frame on the interior, complete with casing, for a more complete and modern appearance. Vinyl brickmold (the same color as the window) extends from the outside of the new window to the brick, forming an all vinyl exterior that is both maintenance free and aesthetically appealing. This option is more expensive as it requires more material and is more labour intensive.
Our staff will assist you to determine the right type of installation for your home.

Do you take all the debris away after the installation?

Yes. In addition to removing all the debris from your home, our installation professionals ensure that your home is left clean and tidy.
